Poole BID is taking action to arrange Poole’s inaugural ‘Big Clean’ event. For the first time ever, the European Maritime Festival is coming to the UK, and Poole has been chosen to host it! With 1,700 delegates descending from all over Europe, Poole BID (business improvement district) is determined that Poole Town Centre will be looking its best. From 2nd May to 7th May, businesses are being encouraged to undertake their own Spring clean in preparation for the event and the busy summer season ahead. There will be competitions for the ’Best Spring-Cleaned Shop Front’ and the ‘Best Dressed, Maritime-Themed Window’.
The BID has organised access equipment for hard-to-reach areas, gutter clearing, high-level window cleaning, decorating and small maintenance tasks. This work will be charged at cost to BID levy-paying businesses. Following the Big Clean, the Town will be dressed in 3.3km of nautical bunting and floral displays throughout the BID area from the Lighthouse, along the length of the High Street, Poole Quay, and streets in between. Shopkeepers wanting works programmed-in are urged to reserve their slot by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org.
