A five year plan for Poole BID has been sent to all businesses eligible to vote in the forthcoming ballot for this new Business improvement District (BID) for Poole town, BID businesses also received an invitation to drop-in sessions taking place in three locations across Poole ahead of a postal ballot closing on April 28.
Retailers and businesses across the Poole BID area, which includes the Quay, High Street, Dolphin Shopping Centre and streets within these, are invited to attend three drop-in sessions where they are able to meet members of the BID steering group who will be on-hand to answer questions about the business plan.
Thursday March 17, 2pm – 4pm, Poole Museum
Thursday March 17, 6pm – 7.30pm, Blue Boar, Market Close
Friday March 18, 11am – 1pm, Dolphin Shopping Centre
The Poole BID will, if successful in its proposal, be established as a separate company closely aligned with the Poole Town Centre Partnership. The scheme, which has been unanimously backed by Borough of Poole, will oblige the council to contribute to the BID, while working to improve the town centre, High Street, and Quay areas.
Receipt of the postal ballot on March 31 will mark the start of a 28 day ballot period in which voters will make a crucial decision to support the proposed Business Improvement District for Poole. The vote will close at 5pm on Thursday April 28, with votes needing to be posted back no later than Tuesday April 26.
Chairman of Poole Town Centre Partnership board, Jonathan Sibbett, said: “The dispatch of the BID ballot papers marks a crucial time for Poole. Before businesses cast their critical votes, they will have the opportunity to raise any views or questions they may have at a series of drop-in sessions across the BID area.
“Voters should carefully consider their own individual liability as well as the plan which, if voted in, will raise a total budget of more than £1.6million over five years. This will contribute towards the prosperity and regeneration of the town centre, Quay and High Street.”
